Diane and I drove from Buffalo to Cleveland to attend the 2010 St John Kanty Prep Reunion. As usual we were behind schedule and entered the city amidst rush hour traffic. It took us as long to get through Cleveland as it took to travel Buffalo to PA.State Line.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel provides a very nice room for a reasonable group price. What a relief to shed the baggage and relax with the “boys” in the hospitality room. Top shelf was available and that scale continued throughout the weekend. We eventually made plans to dine out with our classmates and drove a short distance down the boulevard to The Blue Snapper restaurant for a sea food dinner. The food was good however the table service and bussing left a lot to be desired. A youthful and inexperienced staff appeared to be a factor in this spacious inside/outside restaurant-bar. The cordiality of yesteryear Kanty friendships prevented the issuance of a stern reprimand to the negligent staff. Eventually we headed back to the hotel for R & R and more time in the hospitality suite to catch up on the latest evening arrivals.

We have returned home from the Willow Grove Pa. ’09 school reunion. I can not believe the event is already history. There is never enough time to exchange our viewpoint and opinions when it takes at least a day to settle in and become comfortable with not only fresh surroundings but also such an eclectic group. Ninety six members so varied yet so much the same, sharing a common experience from the distant past.

A banner turnout by our class of ’57: Andy and Joyce Brzozkiewicz, Joe Burkacki, Joe and Nancy Czarnecki, Stan Dziuba, Caz Kalinowski, Stan and Marian Karpinski, Joe and MaryAnn Lepkowski, Phil and Camille Spletzer, Ray and Pat Wisniewski, Mike and Diane Zimmer. Ten of the remaining twenty, 50% is not bad!

Hi guys:
So far Stan, Phil, Karpo, Lepo, Andy, Swo, Ray and Mike have committed to attending the reunion;
Carl is committed to a wedding and weekend service to his parish while Caz Kiczek indicates he is presently unable to travel;
Caz Kalinowski and Burky will be there but I do not know about the other guys "off line"...hence the updated mailing list;
Try to reach out to Joe Bielawski, Frank Kalista, Gerry Przywara, Brian Shaw for a current status;
Depending what is provided at the hospitality room, a local Friday outside supper may be an option to consider;
Saturday afternoon at the Polish festival and the shrine sounds great;

Benedicamus Domino…Deo Gratias!

The eagerly anticipated 50th reunion of the class of “57 is now a fond memory.

Friday afternoon provided an opportunity to tentatively meet each other in the hospitality room and identify names with faces. Later in the day we were able to separate from the larger group and seek out dinner enabling us to look in each others faces and get more familiar with a friendly personage and his loving spouse.

Saturday morning started with a buffet breakfast in the motel courtyard. Many more new faces arrived and once again the same process of familiarization began to solidify us into a family.

The St. John Kanty Prep 2007 Reunion Plans:

Room rates: $99 plus tax per night either 2 double or king size beds available.
There will be 30 rooms held for us until August 15, 2007. This block will be released and rooms will be on a space available basis only after this date.
