I found Ray Machalinski's WW II bio on the internet. I put it in the Kanty Alumni Letters and News Binder in the hospitality room. I can't attached it because of memory limitation (due to some idiot who posted numerous cheap prescription drug offers on the blog area of this web site. The internet link to his bio is now broken. Email me if you want a copy. It's only 160 KB word file.

Ray is the oldest of Kanty Alumni who responded to the 2009 Kanty reunion Invitation. Here is his response:
HELLO CONRAD, I SURE WISH I COULD JOIN YOU IN PHILLY FOR THE REUNION. IJUST THIS MONTH I GOT OUT OF A WHEELCHAIR AND NOW ABLE TO USE A WALKER. I GUESS THE FEW FROM MY CLASS OF '38 ARE PROBABLY IN MY SAME SHAPE BY THIS DATE. I HAD TWO CRASHES AT SEA IN WW11 IN AIRPLANES LEAVING ME WITH A BAD BACK FULL OF ARTHRITIS.THE DR. LAST MONTH TOLD ME HE COULD REPLACE A

We have returned home from the Willow Grove Pa. ’09 school reunion. I can not believe the event is already history. There is never enough time to exchange our viewpoint and opinions when it takes at least a day to settle in and become comfortable with not only fresh surroundings but also such an eclectic group. Ninety six members so varied yet so much the same, sharing a common experience from the distant past.

A banner turnout by our class of ’57: Andy and Joyce Brzozkiewicz, Joe Burkacki, Joe and Nancy Czarnecki, Stan Dziuba, Caz Kalinowski, Stan and Marian Karpinski, Joe and MaryAnn Lepkowski, Phil and Camille Spletzer, Ray and Pat Wisniewski, Mike and Diane Zimmer. Ten of the remaining twenty, 50% is not bad!

Thank you all for bearing some of the kinks (like running out of kielbasa at lunch on Sunday. What was I thinking) in the reunion weekend. My classmates helped me a lot at the reuinion weekend. I wish the weather was better, but some did go to the Polish festival and the other sites in the afternoon went it barely percipitated. The following attended:

So far Stan, Phil, Karpo, Lepo, Andy, Swo, Ray and Mike have committed to attending the reunion;
Carl is committed to a wedding and weekend service to his parish while Caz Kiczek indicates he is presently unable to travel;
Caz Kalinowski and Burky will be there but I do not know about the other guys "off line"...hence the updated mailing list;
Try to reach out to Joe Bielawski, Frank Kalista, Gerry Przywara, Brian Shaw for a current status;
Depending what is provided at the hospitality room, a local Friday outside supper may be an option to consider;
Saturday afternoon at the Polish festival and the shrine sounds great;

It will be held on September 11, 12, 13 2009 in the Philadelphia area just off the Willow Grove exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. A hospitality room with refreshments will be made available for incoming guests Friday and Saturday followed by a Saturday evening banquet with entertainment. Sunday Mass is at 11 am at nearby St David’s celebrated by Fr. Bernie Witkowski ’53, followed by lunch and plans for the 2010 reunion.
Cost of the refreshments and all meals is the same as last year: $100 per person.

Other than Father Joe has anyone heard anything about some of the other priests?

The 2009 St John Kanty Prep reunion is historic!! It is the centennial reunion since St. John Kanty Prep was founded in 1909. It will be held on the weekend after the Labor Day weekend on September 11, 12, 13, 2009 in the Philadelphia area just off of the Willow Grove exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. A hospitality room with refreshments will be made available for incoming guests starting Friday at 4pm and all Saturday afternoon.

The discount rate is $109 for a King Suite and $119 for a Double with a sofa bed.
