After leaving Kanty I attended St. John's University in New York where I earned a BS, MS and PhD in biology. I taught biology at the City University of New York for six years. I then went to Trenton, NJ, where I served as the chief microbiologist at the State Department of Health. I stayed there for about a year when I felt it was time for a change. I decided to fulfill a lingering desire to enter medicine and I enrolled in medical school. With my wife's monumental support, I graduated from the University of Juarez School of Medicine (Mexico)with an MD in 1980. After completing a residency in family practice, I went to Missouri where I practiced general medicine for four years. I then moved to Pennsylvania where I worked as an emergency room physician. This was followed by opening a private practice for 15 years. After closing the practice in 2006, I accepted a position at a health center in Tucson, AZ, where I currently reside.
